From design studios to libraries and digital labs, we provide the tools and spaces students need to explore, create, and innovate.
Library
The Department Library, under the guidance of Prof. Mahesh Nadarajan, serves as a vital academic resource for students and faculty alike. It houses a comprehensive collection of 4,905 volumes across 3,369 titles, along with a wide range of national (23) and international (9) journals. The library also offers access to 1,077 e-resources, supporting advanced learning and research.
Equipped with 4 computers, 3 multifunctional printers/copiers, and a large-format printer, the facility supports academic printing, documentation, and design needs. The collection includes:
Architectural Documentations – 132
Thesis & Dissertation Reports– UG & PG
Training Reports – UG & PG
PG Minor & Major Project Reports
Urban Design Reports – UG
The Department Library remains a cornerstone of academic enrichment, fostering a culture of inquiry, innovation, and excellence.
Computer Lab
The department offers robust computing infrastructure to support architectural design and research. The Department Computer Lab is equipped with 20 dedicated systems, while an additional 80 computers are accessible through the Central Computer Facility (CCF)—all configured with essential CAD and 3D modeling software.
To cater to advanced design needs, the department also provides 20 high-performance systems capable of handling graphics-intensive rendering and Building Information Modeling (BIM) software, ensuring seamless workflow for complex architectural projects.
Seminar Hall
The department’s Seminar Hall is a well equipped space with a seating capacity of 200 students, designed to host a variety of academic and co-curricular activities. It features an LCD projection system, a whiteboard, and ample space for interactive sessions. The hall is regularly used for seminars, expert lectures, special classes, and departmental functions, providing an ideal setting for knowledge exchange and collaborative learning.
Building Science Lab
The Building Science Lab supports architecture students in evaluating building performance and environmental comfort. Key equipment includes the Architectural Evaluation System (AES) with 32 sensors (sponsored by EMCON, Cochin) for assessing thermal comfort and acoustics, along with tools like a Sound Level Meter, Noise Dose Meter, and Pulse Data Acquisition Unit. The lab also features non-destructive testing equipment such as a Rebound Hammer, Ultrasonic Crack Finder, Rebar Locator, and Corrosion Analyser for structural analysis.
Smart Classes
Our architecture classrooms are equipped with touchscreen smart boards that transform traditional lessons into interactive learning experiences. These smart boards enable dynamic presentations, real-time design annotations, and collaborative discussions, making it easier for students to engage with complex architectural concepts and visualizations.
